GB3HR Off Air - 26/2/17

Unfortunately I’ve had to take HR out of service today at about 5.00pm, due to the behaviour of two licensed stations using foul language whilst communicating with another unidentified station, who in turn was causing deliberate interference.

This is the second day running that this behaviour has been observed and therefore, as is my responsibility, I have had to follow the Ofcom/AROS guidelines and shut down the station for a period of time to allow all parties to reflect on their behaviour.

This decision was taken after consultation with the RSGB/ETCC Rep. for the region, the RSGB Regional Manager and HR team members.

The station is likely to be out of service for several days. My apologies for this action, but I hope you will understand that after a year of sending the RSGB/AROS reports, recordings and DF headings, nothing appears to have been achieved in response from Ofcom.

Recently, I have been working with the GB3BV team to plan a renovation of their station, with a view to improving coverage around the Hemel Hempstead and Watford areas. Hopefully, this will enable me to then tailor the coverage of HR to fit in with both BV and LW. The object of this exercise is to enable Users to have greater coverage/station options when interference strikes.

Kind Regards
Peter

Sad state of affairs indeed.

Would it be possible to put a note about this outage on the repeater info page on the web site? Accessing the discussion forum on a mobile wasn't a goer, but I (for one) checked the web site for a note when I couldn't configure something to work on it, eventually driving me and Molly crazy!

Can I just remind users of GB3HR that you must not bring attention to the jammers, yesterday some stations (exacerbated understandably) made it clear that they where aware of being jammed, please do not (apart from contravening your license conditions) play into these individuals plans or malevolent actions. We are pursuing a practice ordered down to us by the powers that be, please bare with and I ask that you exercise some more of that Great British stiff upper lip. Many thanks.
